MSME to play an important role in defence production

Since the time Manohar Parrikar has become the defence minister, he has not failed to impress those around him. The armed forces have his full backing. This time around the defence minister will be inaugurating the MSME defence meet, which also runs hand-in-hand with the Make in India campaign. The main objective of the meet is to give a final shape to the role of MSMEs in defence production. Inputs will be taken from those present in the meet, which will further help in shaping the policy.

The meet is being organised by Federation of Indian Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises (FISME). FISME is a network of more than 700 SME associations in the country. The association is bringing Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSU) and the MSMEs policy makers will be together at one platform.Koan Advisory is a partner of FISME and together they are releasing a working paper on expectations of MSMEs from the defence production and procurement policies.

The meet will be of two sessions- one will focus and opportunities and the other on the policy.
