MSME aims to modernize the cottage industry

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises is aiming to modernize the cottage industries by providing the best training to entrepreneurs through the training institutes of KVIC. This information was provided by Union MSME Minster, Kalraj Mishra.

There are a large number of items that are produced under the KVI activities of KVIC.

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) through its39 Multi-Disciplinary Training Centres (MDTC) is imparting skill based training to the entrepreneurs of Micro Village Industries units in the country.

There are 132 training modules including 13 for Khadi, 116 for Village industries and three modules for Marketing/ Entrepreneur Development Programme (EDP)/ External Aided Project (EAP).

The duration of training under the various modules ranges from 1 week to 15 months which comprise of 97 artisans level, 15 supervisory levels and 20 managerial levels.

In addition, Skill Development Programme (SDP) is conducted with National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) as training partners.
