Fame and controversy go hand in hand. A celebrity will have fans and haters alike. The later will try to bring them down no matter what. They will look for even the slightest of opportunities to bring them down and degrade them. However, not all of them want to degrade or bring down the celebrities. Some of them just want to put their point across to otherwise unapproachable celebrities. One such person is Rene Sharayna Verma, a student of St. Stephens College Delhi.

She recently targeted rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh for the questionable lyrics of his songs. This is not the first time the famous rapper has got into trouble because of his lyrics. Yo Yo Honey Singh has a history of getting into trouble because of his lyrics. However, this was the first time that someone chastised his lyrics in such a way.

In an open letter to Yo Yo Honey Singh, Varma did a rap at a poetry slam in Delhi, condemning his lyrics. Rene talked about how sexist his lyrics are and how Honey Singh’s lyrics objectify women.

A few excerpts from her rap in the poetry slam

Mein chhoti dress mein bomb nahin lagti, yaar. I am not a woofer and you sure as hell ain’t my amplifier, what are you a f*****g transformer?”

I am a chick, a dick, a prude, a dude, a pitch, a snitch, a dyke, a tyke… people are not Pokemon, you cannot catch them out with your Masterball whatever that means.”

20-year-old Rene had performed the Yo Yo Honey Singh parody rap very well. The rap video went viral over the social media platforms and has garnered around 30 million hits. One of the reasons why Rene had made this parody rap was because  she wanted to raise her voice against the culture which somewhat promotes sexual violence, patriarchy and lack of a woman’s consent.
