India-Pakistan cricket rivalry

India-Pakistan cricket rivalry -: The rivalry between India and Pakistan is just not limited to borders; it is much more than that. Whenever, these two nations have met in the World Cup, India has always had an upper hand. India has never lost a match to Pakistan in a World Cup. Cricket in these two countries is not just a game, it is a religion. Rivalry between the fans of these two countries is something else entirely.

It is like a fight which neither of the two can afford to lose. The losing team is always ridiculed, even by its own supporters. Although, Pakistan has been the dominant side when it comes to wining matches, it has till date unable to defeat India in a World Cup match. As far as One-Day Internationals are concerned, Pakistan has won 72 matches against India out of 126 played. Even in Tests, Pakistan has dominated the stats. Out of 59 test matches played, Pakistan has defeated India on 12 occasions, whereas India has won 9 test matches.

However, things have changed in recent times. With the introduction of T20 format, it seems that India has fared better.  Out of the six matches played between the two countries, India has won five.

The cricketing rivalry between the two nations is perhaps a good thing, since it helps them forget the tensions of the border. This is probably the only time when people of these two nations stick together. It is perhaps because of cricket that helps them forget their problems. It is just not the cultural ties that bind the two nations; it is also the love for the game of cricket.

On February 15, when the captains of these two sides will lead their teams into the match of the tournament, more than two billion people are expected to follow the game closely.
