Alas! No longer will we see the common man. The voice of the common man, the man behind the common man, is sadly no more. R K Laxman, the creator of common man, amongst many others died on January 26th 2015. He has also created the mascot for Asian Paints, Gattu. His creation, the common man, depicted the daily turmoil of the ordinary people in India. R K Laxman was the younger brother of eminent writer, R K Narayanan. His daily ‘You Said it’ was a hit among the people. R K Laxman also did the illustrations for his elder brother book, Malgudi Days.
