Bajrangi Bhaijaan Review

Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Another crowd pleaser by Salman Khan maybe not.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Bajrangi Bhaijaan is one movie from Salman Khan that you must watch.  It is a cross-border drama, which manages in its own way tries to deliver the message of peace.

Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi is an ardent devotee of lord Hanuman. He has a legacy of carrying his father’s legacy who also happens to be an RSS member. Pawan is an extremely religious person (not a fanatic) who likes to bow down to every monkey he meets. He is not at all interested in studying and wrestling, two things which his father wanted him to excel at.

Things change for him when his father sends him to Delhi to work. Here he meets Rasika (Kareena Kapoor) and her strict father Digamber (Sharat Saxena), who also happens to be a devout Brahmin. He remains true to his religion and never misses an opportunity to pray to the monkey-god Lord Hanuman. This leads him to the city of Kurukshetra and this is where he finds an abandoned girl child. The child cannot speak. The ever self-righteous Pawan takes upon himself to reunite the child with her family in Pakistan. The rest of the movie revolves around Bajrangi’s effort to help the girl to reunite her with her family.

As far as the performances are concerned Salman Khan has moved out of his comfort zone and actually tried to act. This was the movie where his acting skills were actually tested after a long time. It is a welcome change from the usual things of a Salman Khan movie. He has done a good job of playing a simple and innocent Bajrangi.

Kareena Kapoor is just like a showpiece in the movie. She is there to add the glam factor.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the backbone of the film in the second half. He actually saves the movie from going wayward.

If Siddiqui is the backbone of the film then the heart of the film is the little Harshaali Malhotra.  She manages to steal hearts and a lot ‘Awws’ from the audience.

Overall the film is a must watch, solely because it has something different to offer as far as Salman Khan is concerned. You have to watch out for Nawazuddin Siddiqui (the guy never fails to impress) and Harshaali Malhotra.

Cast: Salman Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Kareena Kapoor and Harshaali Malhotra

Director: Kabir Khan
