It was a big day for all those who are related to the MSME sector. Shri Kalraj Mishra, Union Cabinet Minister of MSME,  inaugurated the Employment Exchange for Industries.  He also emphasized on the fact that the country has come back on the track of economic progress and that the government has created an environment of growth and prosperity in the country.

Campaigns such as Make in India, Skill India and Clean India have given added to the economic progress of India. These campaigns have not only added to the economic growth of the country, they have also created jobs for millions of people across the country.

Mishra had earlier met all the leaders of the Industry and they had raised concerned of the fact that there is a lack of skilled workforce. This applies not only to them, but also their suppliers who are usually the MSME units. He later had interactions with other industrialists and even they pointed out the same problem.

The problem magnifies, when large industries are dependent on MSME units as suppliers and since there is absence of skilled labour, it leads to below par results not just for the MSME sector, but also the Indian Industry.

He also said that when it comes to suitable opportunities in the manufacturing sector at the worker/operator level,  there is a lack of knowledge of adequate opportunities. Mishra also said that although, India has a huge advantage demographic advantage, but the lack of skills brings the whole system down. The skilled hands do not find the appropriate jobs and the appropriate employer does not find the right employee, which puts the industry in a huge disadvantage. This kind of situation also leads to frustration and skepticism to the entire skill programme of the country. Hence, it becomes more important that these skilled people and the employer should get the right kind of platform to meet each other.

Earlier if there was a need to find a factory worker, the employer used to put up a poster next to the building, but this used to happen during the old days. Now things have changed and new methods need to be adopted. Mishra and his team had done an in-depth study and the players in the private sector are trying to cater to the need of the white collared urban population, whereas there is also a need to sort the employment problem of the blue collared. In order to eradicate this problem, the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurs has developed an Employment Exchange for Industries, which is an online platform where job seekers can find employers and vice versa.
