Mumbai, the financial capital of the country is known for its fast paced life and the never ending nightlife. There has been a lot of noise by the people living in other metros that Bombay doesn’t fare very well when it comes to food. Bombay might not be famous for its biryani, but it has something which the other metros lack. Bombay has a number of places which serve authentic Parsi food.

Jimmy Boy: Located near  Horniman circle, it is one of the best places to eat Parsi food. With art deco buildings all around, the whole atmosphere around the eatery is pleasant. The set up of the eatery is very simple. With huge French windows overlooking the street and sunrays filtering through the leaves, into the café, it has a very Old Bombay feel to it. If you want have something filling then you must try vegetarian or a non-vegetarian Dhansak. If you want something light then chicken Farcha is a must. The place also has a cake cabinet, and if you have a sweet tooth then you must try one of their tarts.

Café Exelcior: It is one of this tiny cafes that you are bound to go unnoticed because of its location. Since it is in one of the by lanes of South Mumbai it is difficult to locate if you are new to Bombay. Located near Azad Maidan, this café has its own charm. It has quiet, peaceful surroundings with a touch of laziness in it. If you want to have a quick bite, then this is the best place to be. It is a heaven for those who love non-vegetarian food. Be it the mutton burger or the chicken farcha, it is a place which redefines fast food. The caramel custard is to die for, not to mention it is quite refreshing on a warm and humid day. It is a place where you can spend endless hours just observing people, or read a book.

Stadium Café: Located just outside the Chruchgate station, it is one of those places that portray the spirit of Bombay. There will be lots of people in the café all the time, yet you can have your quite moments. The mutton samosas and keema biryani is something you have to have, if you are in this café. If you are an early riser, then a bun maska with Irani chai are your morning buddies. It is walking distance from the famous Marine Drive.

If you want to have cheap, yet authentic food in Mumbai and maybe get a feel of Old Bombay, then these are the place to be.
