It is winters and it is cold outside, you want to go for that run or the cycle ride, but your bed acts like a magnet. It does not let you move away from it. It is so cold outside that you do not want to get out of that warm and fluffy quilt. You know you have to get up and go outside for a run or a bike ride. But what you end up doing is sleeping. By doing this, you not only miss a great workout, there are various benefits which you are unable to reap benefits of.

You learn discipline: There is no better way of learning discipline or self-control in today’s world than actually getting up on time and actually not putting the alarm on snooze. By not putting the alarm snooze in the morning, it is a great way of learning self-control. Think of it as an opportunity to prove yourself that if something has to be done at that particular time, and then it has to be done. By doing this, you will learn to procrastinate less in your everyday life too. Research has shown that people who show self-control tend to be happier than those who do not, so you might as well do it.

Better time management: If you plan a day before then you also tend to plan your day ahead in a better manner, rather than start the day in a reactionary state of mind. Preparing things the day before will also make you less hyper, as you already know things have already been done, and in addition to that, in case you have missed something, then you can do it in cool and calm manner.  It also allows you to have your peace of mind.

Serves as a litmus test: Getting up early and not hitting that snooze button every single day is the best way to test how committed you are to your fitness regime. It is understandable that one or two odd days will always be there in which there is a possibility that you miss out on your training. A serious athlete will never let go of any opportunity to train and push himself to the limit.

You don’t miss your workout once you get up:  Once you are up, there will be only be a minor possibility that you will miss your workout. The most difficult part is to get out of your bed. Also, people tend to consistently go for their morning workout. It will be a rare event where they miss the 6am workout because of some unforeseen event. Whereas during the evening, there will be many instances where your workout schedule can be disrupted time and again. For example, the fatigue of the entire day can make you skip your evening workout session.
