Avantika’s Guide To Festive Styling

While winters maybe a hibernation period on the other side of the globe, we Indians are out and about to flaunt it.With the growing trend of destination weddings, filled with not one but various cocktails and pool parties, it’s time to gear up for some serious wedding shopping!

So let your inclusion of a Patiala stick to a just a Patiala peg! And no, Anarkali disco nahi chali! Because let’s be honest, it’s the time when you suddenly transform from college girl attire to chic magnifique, who’s probably next in line (Or so says every relative you meet)…Leave them tongue tied with this month’s guide and tips straight from the LFW’15 runway.

Colours and Shades

Safed Sari Mere Hat Na Aani

The only thing dying at a wedding should be your annoying cousin’s ego. So leave the white dresses/gowns, lehengas, kurtas and salwars at home. This season think colours! Perky pinks, sky blues, leafy greens, sunshine yellows and peachy tones! Do not even think twice is your anthem! As seen in collections by Anushree Reddy, Divya Reddy, Sonakshi Raaj for LFW 2015.

Styling and Silhouettes

Banno Tera Swagger Laage Sexy

This season it’s all about a neo-festive vibe, incorporating traditional flares with western silhouettes, cuts and add on’s. Take a cue from Tarun Tahiliani’s jumpsuit sari or Ritu Kumar’s chic sari pants, a printed blouse with satin palazzos or dhoti pants as seen in Aprita Mehta’s collection, or go chic-le-edgy with a embroidered sherwani and dhoti pants.Think Indian finesse with a contemporary edge.Considering Gaurav Gupta’s fantastic showcase of drapes and structure, Sonakshi Raaj’s innovative sharara gown, I definitely recommend investing in a good gown – from personal experience, women are finally upping the cocktail night style quotient.

Designs

All the Taamasha

Prints are here to stay! Florals go for a win, and we aren’t complaining (Apologies to any Devil Wears Prada fans). Whether it’s the lehengas from Anushree Reddy’s playful pink or Neeta Lulla’s sultry emerald or Divya Sheth’s fall brown look, it’s like a spring of love! The queen of quirk Masaba Gupta went for symmetrical prints. Another add to the edgy bag? Yes sir!

Arpita Mehta and Divya Reddy are leading the way with Zardozi and intricate mirror work that are definitely making the rounds this season, and personally,

Ritu Kumar at LFW WF 2015 (36)

I love it!Last but not the least! Remember to keep chugging on some lemon water

Divya Sheth at LFW WF 2015 (24)

(No I did not mean tequila) to keep yourself hydrated and give you the “not my wedding, but I’m still stunning” glow! Show off those pearly whites knowing you’re worth a million bucks! By that I mean your smile, not your nani’s vintage!

Keep it light, Keep it Trendy.
