The Department of Electronics and IT (DeitY), which is implementing the government’s ambitious Digital India Programme, is expecting commitments of investments to the tune of Rs. 2 lakh crore from domestic and foreign firms at the launch of ‘Digital India Week’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.

Anil Agarwal, who is the head of metal and mining conglomerate Vedanta Group, said in a tweet – “PM’s Digital India initiative would prove to be a significant step towards ‘One Connected India’ and generate employment, investments and FDIs.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Digital India Week’ in the national capital today, with a view to empower the people of the country through the Digital India programme.

Digital India aims to transform the country into a digitally empowered knowledge economy.

Apart from the event here, 600 districts across the country will organise various programmes to sensitise people about the ongoing activities under the Digital India platform.
