some of us have the common complaint, “So much to do and so little time.” However, there are others who often have to deal with severe pangs of boredom in daily life. The weekend is one time when most of us tend to get uneasy and look to do something different. There are many times when we tend to suffer from lack of enthusiasm, simply because the project isn’t interesting enough. If you wish to include a new project on your checklist, this article will certainly be helpful.

A list of interesting tasks

Go through the list to see what all can be accommodated on your plate.

Cut off distractions

In this age of technology, there are several distractions; the internet and TV being the most common ones. One of the reasons why a TV is called ‘Idiot Box’ is because it does not really involve you. On the Internet as well, there comes a point when you get bored of surfing websites. The thing to do here is switch off both the computer and the TV. Roam around the house to see what else is there. There are high chances that you will come up with something more interesting to do.

Celebrate your successes

Sometimes we tend to become so focused on the goals that we forget about the wins and losses along the way. One must spend adequate time learning from the losses and truly celebrating the successes. This certainly helps in restoring confidence levels.

Learn a new course

Learning a new course is the best way of knowing oneself. Make a list of your hobbies or career ambitions, and choose a course which fits into any of these. Involvement with the course can certainly help keep boredom at bay. Today the internet has truly opened up the options for learning at one’s leisure.

Make a journal

Open any Word document and simply begin writing. It doesn’t matter what subject you write on, as it greatly helps to filter the mind. Skills in writing do not matter at all here. If you really like this activity, you could look at maintaining a diary on a regular basis. Most writers believe that this helps them focus best on the target ahead.

Cook a new dish

Cooking daily can become quite boring at times. Instead, why not experiment and try preparing a new food item? There are plenty of gourmet programs on TV and gastronomic websites on the internet which can provide you with instructions. A recipe that requires some amount of effort will certainly kill the boredom and provide satisfaction at the end of it.

Volunteer for a good cause

There are many organisations which strive for the improvement of different communities. Such places could be a set up for a variety of causes – children, old people, disabled and those affected by a natural calamity. If you are bored and wish to do something productive, join one of these organisations. Helping out the needy is always an immensely rewarding experience.

Experiment with your looks

Men and women can both try out a new hair colour, in order to make themselves look different from usual. They could get hair cut as per different styles. It’s always fun to try a new look every now and then, though the frequency of this is higher when one is young. Women can experiment with new shades of lipstick, lip gloss and nail paint.

Cleaning the closet

It is amazing how uncluttered one can feel after cleaning the closet. If it has been stacked with clothes, equipment and all kinds of things since long, and you have been neglecting it due to laziness, now is the time to organise the stuff. Do not think of the long process per se, but remind yourself that soon you will be able to find clothes easily.

Connect with an old contact

Facebook and other social media sites make us add several people into our friends’ list. However, the truth is that we hardly ever interact with many of them. Each person knows that with time, lives get busy and routines become hectic. So why not pick up an old contact from the list and simply give her or him a call? The person will be pleasantly surprised to know that you have decided to reconnect after so many years.

Twist around your routine activities

Boredom tends to creep in when you do the same tasks again and again in the same environment. Try adding a twist to the same – for example, if you have been writing a story for long in a closed room, change your location. Sit in the balcony and add fuel to your thoughts.

The trick to keep boredom at bay is to develop a wide range of interests. These interests are always going to keep you occupied, irrespective of whether a social circle is present or not. Interestingly, some activities such as learning dance have additional benefits – getting to know people. Of course, the above is certainly not an exhaustive list of projects.
