Moments which made Star Wars STAR WARS!
The Star Wars saga has captured the imaginations of the young and the old for the past three-and-a-half decades. Now that the latest installment, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is only a fortnight away, we will take you back and talk about some of the most memorable moments of Star Wars series. This will be a three-part article.
In this part, we will talk about the moments which were there in the original trilogy.
The opening line, title, and story crawl (All movies) – No Star Wars movie would be complete with ‘A Long time ago, in a galaxy far far away’. We can’t even imagine the movies with this unique detail. It captures the attention from the start to the end. The opening truly defines Star Wars.
When the X-wing Fighter enters the Death Star (Episode IV: A New Hope) – This one is a classic scene, which has captured the imagination of everyone. At that time, the makers made us believe that what we saw was real. It almost looked like a real ride. The closest thing you can come to this is the Star Wars tour. http://starwars8online.com/
Obi-Wan Vs Darth Vader (Episode IV: A New Hope) – This sequence was the first lightsabre battle anyone saw, so this one definitely deserves a mention. It was also a fight between former Padawan and master pair. What makes this sequence more engaging and dramatic is Luke’s reaction when Obi-Wan is killed. It was perfect.
Anakin comes to the rescue (Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi) – The Emperor really needs to know how to handle things. When he is unable to turn the young Skywalker to the dark side, he tries to kill him, that also in front of his father. Big mistake Emperor! When Vader sees that his son is almost being killed by the Emperor, he steps in and kills the emperor. He saves his son’s life but sacrifices his own in the process.
Vader reveals himself to be Luke’s father (Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back) – “Luke I am your father”. Whoa, where did that come from? This was the single most unexpected revelation to ever happen in a sci-fi movie. It was such a turn of events. Imagine what Luke might have gone through when he came to know the baddest of the bad guy in the universe is his father. This one line certainly took everyone by surprise.
