Bringing Girl Education In India

A global movement for the girl education namely Girl Rising that engages in storytelling to uphold the truth in order to galvanise support for the girl education and the empowerment of girls recently declared an aspiring partnership with USAID (United States Agency For International Development). Girl Rising: Engage India has received a start-up subsidy from USAID

Within the course of eight weeks Girl Rising : ENGAGE INDIA strives to establish an expanding network of influential corporates who are all for the cause of girl education.

Besides the two year storytelling initiative, Girl Rising : ENGAGE INDIA is also clearly set on the 3 main goals of proliferating the rates of secondary school completion of girls, persuading more girls to study post 10th standard and lastly a decrease in gender based discrimination.

“Too often, it is social and traditional ideas that are holding girls back. People simply can’t imagine a different future for girls. Girl Rising changes that”

Expressing her views on the initiative, Priyanka Chopra said “Major strides have been made toward universal primary girl education all across India, however drastic inequalities at the secondary school level remain. If more girls are educated, we all stand to gain”. Even Freida Pinto stated “Too often, it is social and traditional ideas that are holding girls back. People simply can’t imagine a different future for girls. Girl Rising changes that”

In a bizarre twist, Girl Rising: ENGAGE INDIA will kick-start with the release of a Bollywood version of the Girl Rising feature film which highlights the individual stories of nine remarkable girls all around the world struggling against almost impossible odds and circumstances to attain their dreams. It gives the audience a real idea of what change looks like and inspires people who are interested in change to stand up and get it done.
