The Style Evolution Of Deepika Padukone

Starting her career with a remarkable debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in 2007 blew everybody’s mind. A model-turned-actor, DeepikaPadukone has managed to find a big place in everyone’s heart. She is not only a brilliant actress, but is also one of Bollywood’s best dressed. The gorgeous actress has definitely come a long way where style and fashion is concerned. Since her debut as Shanti in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om, she has grown tremendously, not only as an actor but also as a style diva.

After stepping into Bollywood, she upgraded her style quotient and quickly adapted to the overblown traditional wear, dramatic hair accessories and heavy makeup. Being the daughter of a badminton player, she is naturally blessed with great height and an amazing body and she uses that combination to her advantage. There is no doubt that she has a huge fan following not just because of her acting, but also because of her fashion sense.

At the start of her career, she was lauded mostly for her sculpted looks rather than for her style sensibilities. She has gone through a lot of embarrassing fashion disasters just like other actresses in their initial days. The gaudy blingy green blouse with a net sari was a total eyesore. The fur she had paired with her floor-length embellished sheer gown in pink for the premiere of ChandniChowk to China was another big disaster. By making such disasters she soon found herself on the fashion police’s hitlist. She was also seen on one occasion in a crop top and a pencil skirt where the crop top was a tad too tight thus accentuating her bust in an unflattering way.

However, she was smart enough to learn from her mistakes and began accessorising her outfits with trendy shoes, bags, smart hair styles and appropriate makeup which definitely made her look poised and elegant.

As we talk about her style journey, the sporty girl next door was seen transforming from tank tops and divided skirts to heavily embellished lehengas and designer saris on the red carpet. From TarunTahiliani, Sabyasachi and Neeta Lulla to RohitBal and Gauri and Nainika, she has worn designer creations with grace and beauty. Her style statement includes not only Indian labels, she has also been seen in various international brands like Dolce &Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Celine and more.

When it comes to hairstyles, Deepika is no doubt versatile. Not just on the red carpet, her looks for her film promotions and endorsements are also marvellous.  Many people have the wrong notion that only straight hair looks beautiful. Deepika has proved this concept wrong multiple times with her curls, messy buns and high ponytails.  For a casual look, she chooses either fishtail braids or normal ponytails. For award shows and other public events she chooses up-dos or long flowy curls.

The dusky actress does not lag behind when it comes to competing with other B-town stars. Deepika dazzles in all sorts of traditional attire as well. Be it a sari or a lehenga, she pairs it with glamorous contrasting blouses, matching accessories, stylish hairdos and designer bags to complete her ethnic look.

Just like you will not go to work wearing a bold matte lipstick or to a party with barely-there makeup, similarly it is important to know which shade suits your skin tone. For this, Deepika is the best example. She has rocked many an award function, red carpet and public event sporting a cherry red or oxblood pout.

Having also made geeky glasses a style statement, she has been seen wearing them with casual outfits to make those looks even more stylish and trendy.

Deepika Padukone is a living style statement – known not only for her excellent acting skills, but also for her enchanting sense of style; her style ethics have broken all beauty myths and have made her the most watched style icon in Bollywood.
